Bio-based plastics: insights from JRC and relevance for E-OilÉ
A recent policy brief from the Joint Research Centre provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of bio-based plastics — highlighting both their potential […]
E-OilÉ was present and represented at the European Bioplastics Conference 2025, the leading event for innovation, business, and policy in the bioplastics sector, held in Berlin. This event marked a key moment to connect with industry leaders and showcase the project’s ambition in developing safe, biodegradable monodose packaging for oily food and cosmetic products.

Maria José Suárez, E-OilÉ Coordinator from Fundación GAIKER, delivered a presentation outlining the project’s scope, objectives, and early progress, highlighting the development of high-performance biopolyesters and polysaccharide-based materials, and the use of AI-enabled tools for biodegradation modelling.
E-OilÉ was presented in booth at the exhibition area, featuring a poster summarising the project’s concept and first milestones, allowing for a valuable opportunity to engage directly with conference participants, answer questions, and explore potential collaborations with other European stakeholders.
Alongside GAIKER, project partner DTI (Danish Technological Institute) also attended the event, reinforcing the multi-national and multidisciplinary character of the E-OilÉ consortium.
Participation in events like this helps reinforce E-OilÉ’s commitment to Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) innovation, knowledge exchange, and impact across the bioplastics and packaging sectors.
