On 15 April, GAIKER will participate as an invited guest in the ONTZI workshop on “The Food Packaging of the Future: Biobased Materials and New Alternatives”, organised by the Basque Food Cluster’s ONTZI | Basque Food Packaging Innovation Hub.
ONTZI is an open innovation community connecting Basque food companies with material developers, technology centres and packaging experts from across the world, all working toward safer, more sustainable and competitive food packaging solutions. Since its launch in 2023, the platform has grown to over 465 members and mobilised more than 2 million euros in collaborative innovation projects.
GAIKER will participate in a working group alongside UPCYCLE — a Horizon Europe sister project to E-OilÉ — sharing insights on biobased materials and the role of biodegradable packaging in the future of the food sector. This collaboration between sister projects reflects the broader European effort to accelerate the transition away from fossil-based single-use plastics toward circular, bio-based alternatives.
E-OilÉ’s presence in this forum reinforces our commitment to connecting research with industry, bringing the science of biodegradable monodose packaging closer to the food companies that need it most.
E-OilÉ in the Agenda:
“Proyecto E-OILé : Sustainable End-of Life Routes for single-use monodose packaging for oily products”, a cargo de Mª José Suárez – Coordinadora del Grupo de Investigación de Materiales Biobasados y/o Biodegradables en GAIKER
