E-OilÉ first General Assembly to assess the first six months of the project

The E-OilÉ consortium gathered for its first General Assembly on 10 December 2025, bringing together representatives from all 15 partner organisations across Europe. Held online, this meeting marked an important moment in the project’s early implementation phase, ensuring strategic alignment across technical, regulatory, and communication activities as E-OilÉ advances toward its next milestones.

Progress Updates and First Technical Insights

Each Work Package presented its progress to date, along with planned activities for the coming months. Partners shared:

  • Preliminary scientific and technical results from ongoing experimental processes, biodegradadion testing and modelling activities. The testing of first samples of olive oil waste rich in oleic acid is underway with good results.
  • Confirmation of key methodologies and technical decisions related to polymer development, packaging transformation, biodegradation/disintegration testing, and the application of Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) principles, with promising outcomes
  • Initial conceptual design of the project’s digital twin (AI), defining the modelling approach and data structure that will later support predictive biodegradability simulations.
  • Planning for upcoming internal deliverables and milestones, ensuring synchronisation among material developers, industrial partners, digital modellers, and evaluation teams.
  • Risk identification and mitigation discussions, with partners emphasising the importance of coordination, timely data exchange, and alignment with sister projects working on complementary areas.

Next Steps Across the Consortium

Partners outlined their immediate next actions, including laboratory work, digital modelling activities, material optimisation, explotation strategy, safety tests and more. Coordination between work packages, particularly in materials development, safety assessment, and end-of-life evaluation, will remain central in the next semester.

A Collaborative Start Toward a Sustainable Packaging Future

The first General Assembly demonstrated the commitment and momentum across the consortium as E-OilÉ begins shaping a new generation of safe, biodegradable, and circular monodose packaging solutions for oily products.
