# E-OilÉ Project > E-OilÉ is a Horizon Europe project developing safe, sustainable and biodegradable monodose packaging solutions for oily products in the food and cosmetics sectors. E-OilÉ, also written as E-OILE or E-OILÉ, stands for “Sustainable End-of-life routes for single-use monodose packaging for oily products”. The project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 101177771. It runs from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2029 and is coordinated by Fundación GAIKER in Spain. E-OilÉ develops near-market biodegradable packaging solutions based on novel biopolyesters and polysaccharides. These materials are engineered to improve barrier and mechanical performance for oily products and to replace fossil-based plastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in flexible and semi-rigid monodose packaging. The project follows Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles and combines materials science, packaging eco-design, biodegradation testing, Life Cycle Assessment, circular business models, artificial intelligence and digital twins to support sustainable end-of-life routes. ## Key Facts - Project name: Sustainable End-of-life routes for single-use monodose packaging for oily products - Acronym: E-OILÉ - Grant Agreement: 101177771 - DOI: 10.3030/101177771 - Programme: Horizon Europe - Funding scheme: Horizon Innovation Action - Topic: Biodegradable polymers for sustainable packaging materials - Coordinator: Fundación GAIKER - Start date: 1 June 2025 - End date: 31 May 2029 - Total cost: €7,854,089.04 - EU contribution: €6,616,783.77 - Main sectors: food packaging, cosmetics packaging, sustainable materials, biodegradable polymers, circular economy - Main materials: biopolyesters and polysaccharides - Target plastics to replace: PP, PE and PET - Target maturity: TRL 7 demonstration - Main use cases: olive oil, oily sauces, body oil and cosmetic oil serum ## Use Cases 1.
